Zhen-Guo Yang

Dr. Zhen-Guo Yang (Z.G. Yang) is currently the distinguished professor in the Department of Materials Science at Fudan University and obtained his PhD degree in the Mechanical Engineering Department from East China University of Science and Technology in April 1988. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden from April 1994 to May 1995, as a guest professor at Technical University of Munich from February 1996 to June 1997 and as a visiting professor at Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences from February 2009 to July 2009.

Prof. Yang is now the chair expert of Science Popularization Team of the National Metallography and Microscopy Analysis Discipline, China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the vice chairman of Chinese Failure Analysis Institution (CFAI). He is also the director of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, the executive director of Chinese Society for Stereology, the director of Chinese Surface Engineering Association, the subject editor of the Engineering Failure Analysis, the editorial board member of the International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping. the deputy director of the editorial board of the Physical Testing and Chemical Analysis (Part A) and the Materials for Rail Transportation System, etc. Prof. Yang’s research areas cover failure analysis and composite materials. He has won 13 Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards, and 2 Shanghai Teaching Achievement Awards. He has held 35 authorized Chinese invention patents and published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers, including over 140 SCI papers， among which the H-index is 35 and the citation number is more than 5000. The two undergraduate courses he teaches, Materials Failure Analysis and Introduction to Materials Science, have been awarded the Shanghai Outstanding Course, so he has been granted the Shanghai Educational Talent Award and the Shanghai Famous Teacher in Teaching. Until now, he has been in charge of over one hundred important failure analysis projects from 12 industries, such as nuclear power, thermal power, wind power, petrochemical, chemical engineering, metallurgy, gas，high-speed rail, electric vehicle, aerospace, printed circuit and microelectronics. So he has been invited to give plenary lecture for eight consecutive times in the National Conference on Failure Analysis, the executive chairman for eight consecutive times in the National Failure Analysis Competition and the co-chair of the Ninth International Conference on Engineering Failure Analysis.
