Conference chair
Prof. Yinhua Wan is a Professor of Biochemical Engineering,Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing, China. He obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Chemical Engineering from South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China in 1993 and D. Phil. in Biochemical Engineering from Oxford University, Oxford, UK in 2004. He is currently serving as Vice Director of National Engineering Research Centre for Biotechnology (Beijing) and Vice Director of State Key Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering, Institute of Process Engineering, CAS. He is also serving as Executive Board Member and Vice Secretary-General of Asian Federation of Biotechnology. He sits at Editorial Boards of a number of peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Water Process Engineering, Membrane Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering, Water Treatment Technology, etc.
Currently, Prof Wan’s research covers a wide range of membrane technology development for cleaner production, biorefinery of lignocellulosic materials, bioseparation and wastewater treatment, with focus on development of novel and high performance membranes, and fermentation-membrane separation coupling processes for production of bioproducts. He developed high performance inorganic-organic hybrid pervaporation membranes and invented a number of new membrane processes and membrane fouling control technologies, some of which have been successfully applied in industrial applications and produced significant economical and social benefits.
