Virginia Infante

Virginia Infante has an MSc in 1998, a PhD in 2002 and the habilitation in 2020 in Mechanical Engineering from Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST), University of Lisbon, Portugal. Since 1995, she has been working in the mechanical behaviour of materials and has been involved in several national and international research projects. Currently Virginia Infante is Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of IST.

She has special expertise in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical and Fatigue Design, Structural Materials, Fatigue & Fracture of Materials, Improvement Techniques, Railway Sector, Welded Joints, RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintenance and Safety), Life Cycle Costs. She has published over 80 international journal papers and she is Vice President for Administrative and Financial Matters of IDMEC (Institute of Mechanical Engineering).
