Talk Title: Coronacoaster: clinical laboratory's experience navigating diagnostics for SARS-CoV-2 infections

Tung Phan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. He has been the Medical Director of the UPMC clinical virology laboratory and the Medical Director of clinical microbiology at UPMC Mercy.

His research interests include the investigation of the clinical relevance of molecular infectious disease testing, the use of molecular methodologies for accurate laboratory diagnoses with regard to infectious diseases and the application of molecular technology to develop accurate, cost-effective and timely laboratory tests. He is also interested in molecular detection, epidemiology and genomic evolution of emerging and re-emerging viruses.
