Talk Title: Applications of Nanotechnology in Sensing, Separations, Agriculture and Therapies

Dr. Geoffrey Waterhouse is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He is the elected New Zealand delegate to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). He is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (2019-2022), and was named in Stanford University's 2020, 2021 and 2022 lists of the Top 2% scientists in the world. In 2022, he was awarded the Shorland Medal by the New Zealand Association of Scientists.

In 2021, he was awarded one of New Zealand’s most prestigious awards, a James Cook Research Fellowship, by the Royal Society New Zealand, and also received the Research Excellence Medal from the University of Auckland. In 2020, he was awarded the premier prize of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry, the "Maurice Wilkins Center Prize for Excellence in Chemical Research" (one awardee nationwide per year). Currently, he is a Principal Investigator of MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials & Nanotechnology (a New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence), the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Future Foods and an Associate Editor-in-Chief of Food Science and Human Wellness (Q1; impact factor 8.022). He is the Deputy Director of “Precision Nutrition and Healthy Food Research” Innovation and Intelligence Base in Henan Province, a Chair Professor of South China University of Technology, Chair Professor of Shandong Agricultural University, and Distinguished Professor of Henan University. His research interests include nanomaterials synthesis, catalysis, development of bioactive/drug delivery platforms, functional packaging materials, and optical sensors for the detection of pesticides, heavy metals, viruses & biological markers. He has 11 published book chapters, 420 SCI journal articles (Google Scholar H-index 86; average impact factor 12; total citations over 30,000).
