Bart Herlé is a Senior Scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim, Biberach an der Riss, Germany, and works as a medicinal chemist on various drug discovery programs for both Human Pharma and Animal Health. His work includes, leading medicinal chemistry projects, design or new drug molecules, and troubleshooting synthesis. Since 2019, Bart has been leading the team responsible for implementing a retrosynthesis tool at Boehringer Ingelheim.

He studied at the University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam) and the Scripps Research Institute (la Jolla) for his Msc., before pursuing his PhD at ICIQ (Tarragona). After a research stay at Bayer CropScience (Lyon) and a postdoctoral stay at the MPI-KOFO (Mülheim a.d. Ruhr), he joined Boehringer Ingelheim (Biberach a.d. Riss) in 2019 as a medicinal chemist.
