Join us for the 15th International Symposium on Lactic Acid Bacteria
The 15th International Symposium on Lactic Acid Bacteria will bring together academic and industrial researchers interested in the state of the art of LAB research.
The series of tri-annual symposia on Lactic Acid Bacteria began in 1983 to communicate and stimulate research on Lactic Acid Bacteria and their application.
The symposium will highlight the role Lactic Acid Bacteria play in the production of food and feed, as human commensals, how they promote health through probiotic applications and will showcase new technical advances.
The symposium will take place in the Congress Centre Hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond aan Zee, The Netherlands - the traditional home of the LAB symposia, a beautiful north sea village which is easily accessible by car and public transport.
Highlights of the 15th International Symposium on Lactic Acid Bacteria:
15 invited plenary lectures providing overviews of state-of-the-art developments in five selected scientific areas.
Plenary lectures will be followed by an on-stage discussion session.
26 short plenary lectures, selected from the abstracts, that cover the most recent advances in LAB research and poster flash sessions allowing selected authors to present an outline of their poster to the plenary audience.
Extensive time for poster sessions.
Special sessions on taxonomy and on industrial applications
Leading scientists from outside the LAB-community have also been included in the program to cover important emerging fields.
Many keynote speakers contribute a review to the LAB15 special issue of Current Opinion in Microbiology edited by Sarah Lebeer, Giovanna Felis and Jennifer Mahony, which will be available in August 2026. These invited speakers will provide the most current updates on their exciting research.
The program will include invited plenary lectures, contributed talks and poster sessions highlighting the latest LAB research. The program will be curated by a committee of world class academic leaders in their respective fields.
Current Opinion in Microbiology (COMICR) publishes authoritative, comprehensive, and systematic reviews. COMICR helps specialists keep up to date with the expanding volume of information published in the field of microbiology.
