The Editorial Advisory Board
The Editorial Advisory Board, sometimes referred to as simply the Editorial Board, brings together experts who help support the journal and its ongoing development. Editorial Advisory Board members do not handle papers, but contribute to the journal by:
Supporting peer review by acting as peer reviewers or recommending suitable parties to do so
Identifying topics for special issues (which they may guest edit)
Promoting the journal to their colleagues and peers
Attracting new authors and submissions
Selecting Editorial Advisory Board members
Editorial Advisory Board members are appointed by the journal’s Publisher and/or society partner, with input from the editor(s). Editorial Advisory Boards generally undergo a complete rotation every two or three years, with members joining, stepping down or continuing for another term. Changes also occur in the interim, for example, if a member resigns.
The Editorial Advisory Board is important to the success of a journal, and so it’s important that the teams reflect the geographical distribution of the author- and readership of the journal and comprise expertise that covers the journal's scope.
If you’re interested in joining a journal’s Editorial Advisory Board, locate the journal and contact the editor via the Editorial Advisory Board listings page. While most members are invited, we welcome expressions of interest and value your enthusiasm for supporting the community.
