In this Companion site for our book entitled Tropical Cyclones: Observations and Basic Processes, we present movies of observed satellite imagery, time-lapse and aircraft videos of tropical clouds and animations of numerical simulation output. These movies are chosen to provide the student, forecaster and researcher with a simple, visual depiction of the fluid evolution in either the real tropical atmosphere or in the numerical simulation of various thought experiments formulated in the textbook. Some of the movies presented are chosen to enhance the observational and theoretical material discussed in the main text. Other movies are chosen to depict the complex three-dimensional convective-vorticity dynamics that operate in and around the initial disturbance used in the various thought experiments.
