Try LeapSpace for free
Since LeapSpace™ launched in January 2026, we’ve been excited by the positive response from researchers and scientists, many of whom have asked us how they can gain access.
While we offer an individual subscriptionopens in new tab/window, we understand you may want to get a feel for the system and its potential before you subscribe.
So, at present, you can experience two weeks’ unlimited accessopens in new tab/window to LeapSpace with an individual trial. What happens when the two weeks are up? You can continue using the core tools with limits, or sign up for an individual subscription to enjoy ongoing access to the full range of LeapSpace features.
LeapSpace from Elsevier is the research-grade AI workspace that can support you across your research workflow. There are plenty of tools, features and potential to get to grips with. Looking for some tips to get the most out of your trial? Here are a few articles that can help.
Discover how other researchers are using LeapSpace
Across different fields and career stages, researchers keep landing on the same discovery — LeapSpace helps them work faster without cutting corners on rigor. Here’s what three researchers have shared with us:
Do you ever worry about missing that one source that could change how you shape your research questions and methodologies? PhD researcher David Henkelmann knows that feeling well. He explains how the feature Deep Research’s transparent, fully referenced reports have given him the confidence to read faster without that nagging fear, and even saved him weeks on his preliminary literature review. Read more in Insights from a PhD student: Saving time without missing key research.
PhD researcher Paul Preuschoff was wary about using AI tools, but LeapSpace’s peer-reviewed sources and scholarly helped convince him to give research-grade AI a try. Since then, Deep Research mode in LeapSpace has helped him dig for "gold nuggets” and refine where he wants to go in his research. Read more in Peer-reviewed sources, verifiable citations: What convinced one PhD researcher to try AI.
PhD researcher Norhan Attia Ahmed finds writing the most difficult part of research, and past experiences with AI tools that hallucinated citations left her wary. But LeapSpace’s Writing Coach feature, grounded in peer-reviewed literature, gave her much more confidence in the results. Now, Writing Coach is "opening new horizons" in her thinking. It's also helped her divide her research question into smaller subjects and surface papers she'd missed. Read more in How Writing Coach is “opening new horizons” for one PhD researcher.
Quick tip
Limit your search by h-index or publication count to create a shortlist of potential reviewers or collaborators — one researcher used it to discover a specialist institute inside his own university that he'd never heard of.
Learn tips and tricks for conducting a literature review in LeapSpace
With the volume of published research growing exponentially every year, evaluating high-quality, relevant research has never been so daunting. In a recent article, Elsevier’s Rick Misra breaks literature reviews down into four stages: Explore, Validate, Evaluate and Synthesize. He recommends starting broad by describing your topic in your own words, then grounding your query with a constraint — for example, methodology or one of your own uploaded papers — to move from a wide-angle view to a precise, citation-ready search. Get the full four-step walkthrough in From question to citation: Accelerate your literature review with LeapSpace.
Quick tip
Seed your search by uploading a few papers you already trust, then ask LeapSpace to “fetch me other things that align with this.” It's easier to expand a curated foundation than start from a blank slate.
Find out more about the tasks that LeapSpace supports
Wherever you are in your research journey, LeapSpace can help you move faster whether you’re kicking off a literature review, exploring a new topic or field, synthesizing evidence across disciplines, or tracking down funding opportunities. Take a look at sample prompts and real-world examples for each of these tasks to help you get the most out of LeapSpace. Read more in 6 ways LeapSpace can help you move from curiosity to discovery faster.
Quick tip
The Find Funding tool helps you discover open grants in the research area you are exploring — just type in a follow-up question along the lines of “what are the funding opportunities for this topic?”
Prompting tips to maximize your literature searches
Wondering how best to prompt LeapSpace? Purpose is important. And filters can help too — use your query to instruct LeapSpace to limit results by country of primary author, document type or citation count. Get more prompt-crafting techniques in 4 tips for optimizing your LeapSpace prompts.
Quick tip
Don't strip out background for the sake of brevity. Context like "there is concern that patients are being incorrectly diagnosed" isn't noise, it tells LeapSpace which area of literature to target.
Generate a structured, detailed report on your topic
What makes Deep Research different is that it doesn't just generate a polished report. It makes the evidence behind it inspectable. It uses agents to explore your query from different perspectives, and is transparent about what was searched, how the scope evolved and where the report's claims come from. That visibility is what helps you evaluate a claim before it moves into a paper, a review, a brief or a decision. Learn more in How deep is your deep research?
Quick tip
As well as findings, Deep Research reports include Assumptions and Limitations sections. Check these first to see exactly where the evidence is thin before you build upon it.
Strengthen your research drafts
Staring at a blank page is one thing, but starting to write and worrying you’ve missed something is worse. Writing Coach is intentionally built to prioritize validation and critical thinking over text generation. It won’t draft your argument for you, but it will pressure-test the one you’ve already written against LeapSpace’s peer-reviewed knowledge base. And every suggestion Writing Coach makes is optional — there are no silent edits. Explore how Writing Coach can help support your writing in Strengthen your research drafts with LeapSpace Writing Coach.
Quick tip
Want to improve the structure of your research? Ask Writing Coach to “suggest a suitable framework to explain these findings.” Or use Writing Coach to debate your ideas and discover whether your approach has new aspects to consider. Writing Coach is built to push your thinking, not just fix your grammar.
