Karl Kim

Prof. Karl Kim

Karl Kim is Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Hawaii where he directs the Graduate Program on Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance. He is the Executive Director of the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center, a congressionally authorized, FEMA funded center that develops and delivers training for emergency managers, community leaders and first responders on natural hazards, supply chains, evacuation and transportation resilience. He is Editor-in-chief of TRIP (Transportation Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives). He has served as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Dr Kim was educated at Brown University and MIT and has been a Fulbright Scholar to Korea and the Russian Far East.
