Anne Demma

Invited speaker: Anne Demma

Idaho National Laboratory, USA

Ms. Anne Demma has extensive expertise in the nuclear energy field and over 20 years of experience in advanced materials research. Her background includes testing and modeling to assess materials performance of operating reactor technologies and advanced reactor concepts.

As director of INL’s Nuclear Materials Performance division, Demma manages the research and operations of four key facilities and coordinates partnerships with national laboratories, universities and nuclear industry partners.

Demma earned her bachelor’s degree in materials sciences engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Grenoble University, France, as well as a master’s in mechanical and aeronautical engineering from the University of California, Davis.

Her career began in 2004 at the Electric Power Research Institute, where she was a project manager for stress corrosion cracking mitigation and irradiated materials testing and modeling. During this time, she published the first pressurized water reactor vessel internals guidelines. In 2011, she became program manager of the Materials Reliability Program and in 2016 transitioned to lead Primary Systems Corrosion Research, which became International Materials Research in 2018.

In 2020, Demma joined Kairos Power to become the manager of the materials team for the demonstration reactor Hermes. She later became senior manager, with responsibilities that included managing work scopes at the U.S. national laboratories for the Department of Energy Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program award to Kairos Power. She joined TerraPower in 2024 as a principal materials engineer in corrosion and mechanical properties for the Natrium reactor. Demma joined INL in November 2025.
