International Women in Mathematics Day 2026
12 May 2026
To mark International Women in Mathematics Dayopens in new tab/window on 12th May, Elsevier’s Mathematics publishing team have curated a collection of papers published since 2023 - each featuring females as corresponding authors. These papers were chosen for their originality, contribution and impact on the field.
12th May was chosen to honor Maryam Mirzakhaniopens in new tab/window, who was born on this day in 1977. She was the first woman to win the Fields Medalopens in new tab/window, the most prestigious award in mathematics.
The collection recognizes women at all career stages whose work continues to advance knowledge and inspire collaboration across the mathematics community. While we can only feature a small selection here, we extend our thanks to all authors, reviewers, and editors whose contributions strengthen the discipline every day.
Explore these papers and join us in celebrating the women shaping the future of mathematics.
