The Conference will take place at the Melia Sitges, Sitges, Spain. All presentations, lunches and coffees will be at this location.
One of the jewels of the Mediterranean coast, Sitges is just 35 km southwest of Barcelona in the Catalan region of Spain and very easily accessible from Barcelona Airport. The town offers visitors an impressive architectural and cultural heritage together with excellent beaches, restaurants, markets and festivals.
Conference venue
Meliá Sitges Hotel Congress Centre is located on the Mediterranean sea-front and is only a five minute walk from the town centre and train station.

Elsevier has been made aware that third-party companies are targeting Elsevier conference speakers and attendees with a fraudulent travel and hotel booking scheme.
The companies are calling/emailing conference attendees, using email addresses which appear very similar to official Elsevier email addresses, and claiming to be the “official” housing bureau and/or authorized by Elsevier to book hotel/travel accommodations for the conference. This is entirely false and should anyone contact you, please do not provide them with any of your details, but refer this to Elsevier. Spain is one of 26 member countries of the Schengen Convention, under which 22 EU countries (all but Bulgaria, Cyprus, Ireland, Romania and the UK) plus Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland have abolished checks at common borders.
The visa situation for entering Spain is as follows:
Citizens or residents of EU & Schengen countries - No visa required.
Citizens or residents of Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand & the USA - No visa required for tourist visits not exceeding 90 days per 6-month period.

Please note visas will take at least between 2-4 weeks to be issued. Participants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure they receive their visa in time.

Barcelona Airport is the closest airport to Sitges.
If you are deciding whether to fly into Barcelona, Reus or Girona airports, it is worth considering all costs. If you find that a flight to Reus or Girona is cheaper than one to Barcelona Airport, make sure that you add up the other costs of further travel before making a booking.
The distance from Barcelona Airport to Sitges is approximately 20 km. This will take about 30 minutes in a taxi, costing around €65.00.
Transfer to Sitges from Barcelona Airport by train
There are no direct trains from Barcelona Airport to Sitges. Therefore, it is necessary to take the C2 RENFE train from Terminal 2 to El Prat de Llobregat which is the first stop after the airport. You can then catch a train to Sitges from this station.
If you are arriving at Terminal 1 of Barcelona Airport, there is a free shuttle bus that will take you to the train station which is located at Terminal 2.
Transfer to Sitges from Barcelona Airport by coach
There are coaches that run directly from Barcelona Airport to Sitges. The MonBus runs from outside Terminal 1 of Barcelona airport. There are two terminals at Barcelona Airport - Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2) (T2 has three separate sections T2A, T2B and T2C).
The MonBus service to Sitges only departs from T1. Therefore, if you are arriving into T2, you will need to take the free shuttle bus to T1 to catch the Monbus coach to Sitges.
The MonBus service runs from Barcelona airport to the following stations including Sitges.
Barcelona City Centre (Ronda Universitat) > Barcelona Gran Via > Barcelona Airport T1 > Sitges
Sitges >Barcelona Airport (T1) > Barcelona Gran Via > Barcelona City Centre (Ronda Universitat)
The stops are in order of direction but please be aware that the MonBus runs in both directions from the airport so make sure you get the bus that is going in the direction you need.
The MonBus runs once per hour from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays the bus runs every two hours. On Sundays and Holidays they run four times per day.
