Abstracts are invited for oral and poster presentation and should address one or more of the topic areas below.

To deliver exceptional learning experiences, preference may be given to proposals for oral and poster presentations that are positioned to deliver a mix of the following:

• Reflect innovative, forward-thinking content grounded in current evidence-based practice.

• Present evidence supported by relevant research, data, and clinical best practices.

• Demonstrate the practical application of key concepts through real-world case studies and clinical scenarios.

• Incorporate active learning strategies that promote engagement, critical thinking, and knowledge retention.

• Address issues that are relevant to diverse global audiences while promoting inclusion, equity, and culturally responsive emergency care.

Notes for authors

• You may submit as many abstracts to the conference as you like. If, after the review by the committee, you have more than one paper accepted for the conference, you will need to register to attend and pay an additional paper fee for each additional paper (i.e., for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th papers – not the 1st). Please note this is for papers that you are the presenting author of, not papers that you are co-author of.

• Once the paper is accepted, at least one of the authors must register for the conference and present the paper at the conference.

• Abstracts of all accepted contributions will be included within the abstract system which will be distributed to all registered conference participants.

• Successfully submitted abstracts will be acknowledged with an electronic receipt including an abstract reference number, which should be quoted in all correspondence. Allow at least 2 hours for your receipt to be returned to you.

For revisions or queries regarding papers already submitted

If you do not receive acknowledgment for your abstract submission or you wish to make any essential revisions to an abstract already submitted, please DO NOT RESUBMIT your abstract, as this may lead to duplication. Abstracts should address one or more of the topic areas below. Examples are provided for each area and are intended as guidance, not an exhaustive list.

These abstracts should focus on delivering care in different environments or austere circumstances with an emphasis on learning lessons from these situations or conditions

• Disaster and mass casualty care

• Conflict-zone and urban violence

• Humanitarian emergency care

• Vulnerable populations including refugees and migrants, homelessness, prisoners

These abstracts should focus on different patient populations or client groups with emphasis on the unique challenges and opportunities they present

3. Pre-hospital Care

These abstracts should focus on the care given in the field or outside of the traditional clinical environment

• Education & training of medical teams-first responders; ambulance professionals; nurses; physicians

• Assessment & treatment of medical conditions

• Physical locations/settings (i.e. care in the community)

• Telemedicine

4. Emergency Nursing Education

These abstracts should focus on new approaches to education or nursing professional development grounded in evidence and best practice.

• Clinical decision making in emergency care

• Effective approaches to staff development

• Onboarding and orientation of new nurses

• Training of new nurse managers and leaders

• Development and resources for nursing professional development practitioners

• Trauma Education
