We are passionate about inclusion, supporting underrepresented groups through equitable partnerships – and we stimulate early-stage innovative projects to support scale up and develop lasting solutions.
From supporting interventions against malnutrition in Indonesia, to offering scholarships to underserved nursing students in the US, to spotlighting remarkable women researchers, we strive to make a concrete impact towards the UN SDGs.

As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Elsevier Foundation, we reflect on two decades of commitment to advancing research, education and social impact. Since 2004, the Foundation has been a catalyst for change, bridging the gap between academic research and societal needs. With an annual contribution of over $1 million, we have supported inclusive health and research initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Foundation’s journey includes impactful programs like Innovative Libraries and New Scholars, which have strengthened research capacity and advanced women in STEM. Embracing the UN SDGs in 2015, it has fostered partnerships to address global challenges, enhancing research capacity and health services in underserved communities.
