Dr Philipp Lust, Senior Radiologist and Deputy Head of Radiology (Austria)

Please briefly describe who you are and your role. 

I am a senior radiologist and deputy head of radiology at Klinikum Wels-Grieskirchen in Upper Austria. Our hospital has 35 departments, 1,250 beds, 4,300 employees, and treats around 64,000 inpatients and 270,000 outpatients annually. As part of my role as clinical administrator, I introduced STATdx to our radiology department over a decade ago. 

What problems were you attempting to solve when you started using STATdx? 

Before STATdx, we relied heavily on printed textbooks, which were often shared among colleagues. Books would go missing, be used by others, or become outdated. It was inefficient, especially when fast access to reliable information was needed. 

From your point of view, what are the biggest benefits you found in using STATdx in your day-to-day routine? 

The greatest benefit of STATdx is having a continuously updated, high-quality, and professionally trusted online library that is instantly accessible to all radiologists—at any time, from any workstation. This has significantly improved both the speed and quality of our diagnostic work. 

How do you use STATdx in your day-to-day workflow? 

STATdx is always open in a browser window at my workstation, regardless of the imaging modality I'm reporting. I refer to it several times a day—for normal values, differential diagnoses, or unfamiliar findings. Even in cases I’ve never encountered before, STATdx provides structured, concise, and easy-to-understand information—as if I had just completed advanced training on the topic. Additionally, I use it to collect CME credits, prepare presentations, and bookmark frequently accessed topics for quick reference. It’s both time-saving and educational. 

If you had a colleague that was considering STATdx, what would you tell them? 

STATdx has been one of the most valuable tools in my daily work as a radiologist since the advent of the modern digital workflow. In the future, AI may have a similar impact, but the importance of a fast, reliable, and expertly curated reference library will remain essential. STATdx delivers exactly that.
