Paolo P. Pescarmona
University of Groningen, The Netherlands
Paolo P. Pescarmona received his MSc degree in Chemistry from the University of Torino (his hometown in Italy) and his PhD from the Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). Next, he worked at the KU Leuven (Belgium), first as a postdoctoral researcher and then establishing his own research group as an assistant professor. In 2014, he moved back to the Netherlands, where he is currently full professor and leads the Catalysis and Sustainability group at the University of Groningen. His research focuses on the rational design and development of catalytic materials and adsorbents for applications of academic, societal, and industrial relevance, with a particular emphasis on green chemistry. The targeted applications include CO₂ capture and utilisation, biomass conversion, selective catalytic oxidations, electrocatalysis (including green hydrogen production), and photocatalysis.
