Marta Pazos

Marta Mª Pazos Currás is Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Vigo, specializing in industrial biotechnology and environmental technologies. With extensive experience in key projects related to the treatment of industrial soil and effluents, using clean and sustainable technologies to promote an environmentally responsible industrial development model. In addition, it has a solid track record in the use of microorganisms to obtain compounds of industrial interest through the recovery of waste by biotechnological processes, thus contributing to sustainability and promoting the circular economy. Her research career has been marked by stays in prestigious international centers, such as the Department of Civil Engineering of the Denmark Technical University (Denmark), the Center for Biological Engineering of the University of Minho (Portugal) and the Madrid Institute of Rural, Agrarian and Food Research and Development (Spain). The concession of different projects as principal investigator in national and regional calls has allowed the development of these lines of research and the support of the 15 Doctoral Theses that Dr. Pazos has directed. She has an H index of 50 by her authorship of more than 200 articles that have been published in prestigious international journals. Her work has been institutionally recognized, being an expert evaluator of the State Research Agency, where she currently holds the position of Manager of the Science, Technology and Environment area.
