Hajime Kamiya

Hajime Kamiya, MD, MPH, PhD is Professor of Public Health, Occupational Medicine, and Applied Epidemiology at Mie University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan. Trained as a pediatrician, he developed an early interest in immunization, completing research training at UCSD and earning his MPH at Emory University. He worked at Japan’s National Institute of Infectious Diseases and served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officer at CDC, specializing in meningitis and vaccine-preventable diseases. Returning to Japan, he led the Immunization Group at NIID before rejoining Mie University in 2024 to focus on public health training and immunization policy research.
