Alejandro Franco

Alejandro A. Franco is a Full Professor at Université de Picardie Jules Verne (Amiens) and an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington (Seattle). An honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France, he has dedicated over 23 years to advancing the multiscale modeling of electrochemical energy devices. Within the ALISTORE European Research Institute, he leads the Theory Open Platform and has coordinated various collaborative initiatives, including the ERC-funded ARTISTIC and SMARTISTIC projects, which explore the digitalization of battery manufacturing through physics-based simulations, AI and mixed reality. His contributions have been recognized by the community, notably with the 2025 ECS M. Stanley Whittingham Mid-Career Award. Beyond his research, which includes 180 publications and over 230 invited lectures and seminars worldwide, he is committed to international education as the coordinator of the Erasmus+ i-MESC Master Programme and serves the scientific community as an Editor for the Journal of Power Sources.
