Research of tomorrow: Innovation and impact from today

Join us on the 29th and 30th June 2026 for a day of sharing, dialogue and inspiration on the key themes of research impact.

Tomorrow Today in Research

Welcome

Research for tomorrow: Innovation and impact today is a two-day event designed to bring together opinion leaders and academic and research institutions from across France to create a forum for discussion on key topics for the future of research. These include: the role of universities in regional innovation ecosystems, measuring impact in all its dimensions, integrating artificial intelligence into research and its responsible use, the importance of digital solutions and integrated databases for increasing visibility, and, more generally, concrete examples of the use of digital tools by the French scientific community.

Through discussions, feedback and strategic perspectives, these two days aim to foster collective reflection and encourage the sharing of best practices.

About the event

The research landscape is undergoing rapid transformation. Artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and new evaluation frameworks are redefining the way in which institutions manage research performance, collaboration and impact. Against this backdrop of rapid change, France reaffirms its commitment to remaining a leading scientific nation, capable of combining excellence, international collaboration and mastery of its strategic priorities.

‘Research of Tomorrow: Innovation and impact today’ is part of this dynamic, offering a space for discussion and reflection. The aim is to explore, in an informed manner, the use of data, new analytical tools and artificial intelligence to optimise research management, evaluate its performance and strengthen its impact for the benefit of society.

Through expert presentations, debates and case studies, participants will explore how to enhance the impact of their research in a landscape where AI plays an increasingly central role.

Key themes include:

  • France’s role within the European innovation landscape;

  • the integration of artificial intelligence into education and research practices, and its responsible use;

  • measuring the impact of research in all its dimensions;

  • the role of universities and research organisations within regional innovation ecosystems;

  • the importance of digital solutions and integrated databases in raising the profile of research;

The event will also provide an opportunity to discuss and share real-world examples of how the French scientific community uses digital tools.
