Strengthening confidence in research together

Our entire industry cares about research integrity; it underpins trust in the scientific community, contributes to knowledge advancement, and carries significant implications for societal impact. We take an active role in industry working groups, and we provide platforms to educate and inform researchers in all communities, regardless of where they choose to publish.

By believe that by working together with others in the research ecosystem, we can make the biggest impact in protecting the integrity of research. We are a founding member of the STM Integrity Hub. All publisher members can now detect duplicate manuscript submissions across journals published elsewhere while upholding robust confidentiality and privacy standards. The new technology was developed by Elsevier and openly shared with STM members.

To understand the opportunities and challenges facing the research community, we continually engage with researchers, academic leaders, and science-focused organisations around the world. As part of our Confidence in Research opens in new tab/window initiative, we summarised the views of more than 3,000 researchers in a report, highlighting their concerns about increased misinformation and their desire to build confidence in communicating about research with policy makers, media and the public.
