Kashiwa

Kashiwa is located on the Shimōsa Plateau in the far northwestern corner of Chiba Prefecture, about 30 kilometers from the prefectural capital at Chiba and 25 to 35 kilometers from central Tokyo.

The city dates back to ancient times and was once under the control of the Tokugawa shogunate who established a number of horse ranches in the region and oversaw the draining of the marshy areas of Lake Tega during the Edo period as part of large-scale land reclamation carried out across Japan.

Kashiwa-no-ha – Smart City

Kashiwa-no-ha has been designated a Smart City 打開新的分頁/視窗 incorporating well-executed urban design and energy management, with a focus on health and longevity, combined with many green areas. Created through cooperation between the public, private, and academic sectors, Kashiwa-no-ha is an ideal example of a sustainable city. The nearby campuses of Chiba University and The University of Tokyo attract both Japanese and international scholars.

Kashiwa-no-ha Park

Within an easy walk of Kashiwanoha Campus, a futuristic city of tall towers and the Kashiwa campus of Tokyo University is Kashiwanoha Park. The 45 hectare site surrounding a lake gets its name from the daimyo oak, the designated city tree of Kashiwa City 打開新的分頁/視窗. The park has a variety of cherry trees in spring, and ginkgo and maple trees in autumn, quickly followed by winter blooming sazanka camellias. The park also has a large rose garden with international and Japanese varieties that bloom from spring to autumn.
