Things to know when travelling to China

We understand the challenges you are facing when travelling to China, hopefully this will help you prepare your trip and make you feel less stressful.

Apps

Due to “The Great Firewall”, Google products (including Google app store), YouTube, Twitter, Vimeo, Facebook products, Instagram, etc. are blocked in China. Unless you have a VPN, these apps are not accessible in China. You can download a VPN on your device before travelling or explore a few Chinese apps instead.

Chinese VISA Information

Please be aware that you may require a travel visa to enter China. Please check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China website or the Chinese Visa Application Service Center website or with the Chinese Embassy in your country for information on travel requirements to China.

While the conference team CANNOT arrange visas on your behalf, we are glad to help to issue an invitation letter for your visa application once you have completed your registration successfully.

It is recommended that you apply for a Chinese visa as early as possible with at least 1 month in advance of travel.

240-hour transit visa-free policy - this scheme applies to those who are transiting through China between two different countries. It currently covers 65 Chinese ports and is available to citizens of 55 countries: China's 240-hour visa-free transit policyopens in new tab/window

UK and Canada 30-day visa-free

Starting February 17, 2026, holders of ordinary passports from Canada and the United Kingdom will be able to stay in China for up to 30 days without a visa. This decision, now officially confirmed by the Chinese government, will remain in effect through December 31, 2026.
