Renewable and Sustainable Energy Transition has a mission to share the most interesting and relevant problems, solutions, applications, novel ideas and technologies to support the transition to a low carbon future and achieve our global emissions targets as established by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Continuing the mission of the partner journal, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, the journal will address key challenges in the global energy transition, and the wider sustainable development and environmental issues related to it, and act as a forum for the best research to come together and provide solutions and pathways for us to establish a world based on low-carbon energy.

The journal considers articles on the following themes, provided the link to renewable and sustainable energy is clear and thoroughly examined:

Energy system transitions, including but not limited to sector interactions, whole systems analysis at scales from local to global, socio-technical and socio-economic aspects, feasibility, policy and regulatory and market arrangements.

Energy resources, including fossil fuels, in the context of renewable and sustainable energy transitions.

Sector-specific energy transitions research - industry, buildings, transport, agriculture.

Key transition technologies, including but not limited to energy storage, electrification technologies (e.g. EVs, heat pumps), hybrid systems, renewables, synthetic fuels, hydrogen, industrial decarbonisation technologies, demand side management, etc.-where their role in a broader energy transition is thoroughly explored.

Interdisciplinary transitions research, encompassing combinations of engineering, science, environment, economic, social, human/economic geography, equality aspects.

Consideration and development of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in energy transitions.



This journal welcomes contributions that support and advance the UN's sustainable development goals, in particular SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action)
