Simon Alberti
Dresden University of Technology, Germany
Simon Alberti is a Professor of Cellular Biochemistry at the BIOTEC, Technische Universität Dresden, a position he has held since 2018. After earning his Ph.D. in Cell Biology in 2004, he trained with Susan Lindquist at the Whitehead Institute, studying prions and protein aggregation. In 2010, he joined the Max Planck Institute in Dresden, where he pioneered research on phase separation and biomolecular condensates. His work revealed how cells adapt to stress by forming condensates that regulate biochemical processes. He also uncovered how age-related changes in condensate dynamics contribute to disease, offering new insights into the molecular basis of aging.
