Shunlin Liang
Editor-in-Chief of Science of Remote Sensing

Shunlin Liang received his Ph.D. degree from Boston University, USA. He was with the Department of Geographical Sciences, University of Maryland, College Park, USA, for about 30 years. Currently, he is a Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Geography, University of Hong Kong. He has published over 520 SCI-indexed journal papers, and published 11 books, five of which were translated in Chinese. According to Google Scholar, his H-index=111, and total citation is over 52,000. He is a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and the AAAS, the Editor-in-Chief of the nine-volume books entitled “Comprehensive Remote Sensing” (Elsevier, 2017, 2025), and an Editor-in-Chief of Science of Remote Sensing. He has developed the high-level satellite products for multiple space agencies, such as NASA and NOAA. Particularly, he has led to develop the Global LAnd Surface Satellite (GLASS) products suite, freely available at www.glass.hku.hk, and the high-resolution GLASS (Hi-GLASS) products suite.
