Abhishek Kumar Mishra

Dr. Mishra is a Full Professor of Physics at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies UPES, Dehradun, India. He joined UPES in 2016 after completing postdoctoral research at several prestigious institutions, including University College London UCL 2013–2016, Texas A&M University 2010, and Banaras Hindu University 2009. He is currently a visiting scientist at the University of Kassel, Germany and in the past also served as a visiting scientist at Southern University of Denmark, Denmark 2023; ICTP, Trieste 2012 and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT, Germany 2012. He was awarded the prestigious Young Scientist grant from the Department of Science and Technology DST, through which he worked as a Fast Track Fellow at JNCASR, Bangalore, from 2010 to 2013. Dr. Mishra is a PhD in Physics with a strong background in computational material science. He has authored over 100 research publications. His areas of expertise include electronic structure calculations, Molecular Dynamics MD simulations, and Material Informatics. Dr. Mishra's research primarily focuses on utilising DFT-based calculations to explore various applications, such as gas sensing, catalysts for CO2 conversion, thermoelectric materials and 2D nanomaterials for electronics. Additionally, Dr. Mishra has received research funding from national and international agencies like DST, SERB, FICCI, and Materials Square. These funded projects enable him to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge and addressing global challenges in energy, sustainability, and technological innovation.
