Things to know when travelling to China
We understand the challenges you are facing when travelling to China, hopefully this will help you prepare your trip and make you feel less stressful.
Apps
Due to “The Great Firewall”, Google products (including Google app store), YouTube, Twitter, Vimeo, Facebook products, Instagram, etc. are blocked in China. Unless you have a VPN, these apps are not accessible in China. You can download a VPN on your device before travelling or explore a few Chinese apps instead.

Please be aware that you may require a travel visa to enter China. Latest Notice - China will extend a unilateral visa-free policy for 43 countries and optimize entry policy in aspects of stay time and visit purposes
To further facilitate cross-border travel and China’s high-quality development and high-standard opening up, China has decided to extend the unilateral visa-free policy to more countries, which involves visa-free treatment to travellers holding ordinary passport from 43 countries, namely, Brunei, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Korea, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay take effect from 1 June, 2025 ) holding valid ordinary passports can be exempted from visa requirement if entering into China for the purpose of business, tourism, family or friends visits, exchange and transit. They can stay in China for no more than 30 days without visa.
