United Arab Emirates University Establishes First Read and Publish Agreement with Elsevier

Elsevier and United Arab Emirates University Forge Key Read and Publish Agreement.

Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, has established its first read and publish agreement with United Arab Emirates University. Launched in January 2024, the three-year agreement grants researchers access to Elsevier journals on ScienceDirect and allows corresponding authors affiliated with UAEU to publish their research open access in select journals, without incurring article processing charges.

Dr Naeema Alhosani, Acting Library Director of UAEU said, "The transformative agreement with Elsevier is a milestone for academic publishing at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). It opens a new chapter in research dissemination, giving our scholars greater freedom to publish. As the Acting Director of UAEU Libraries, I am thrilled to see UAEU leading the way in the region and setting standards for academic excellence. This agreement aligns with our goals to boost the international reach and accessibility of our scholarly work.”

Amina Itani, E Resources Librarian at UAEU said: "This transformative agreement with Elsevier marks a significant leap forward for the United Arab Emirates University. As the E Resources Librarian, I'm thrilled about the opportunities this partnership opens up for our researchers. By facilitating open access publishing, we're not only expanding our academic community's access to a wealth of prestigious journals but also enhancing the visibility of our research on a global scale. This agreement aligns perfectly with our commitment to making research accessible and fosters a vibrant scholarly communication environment."
