Interdisciplinary research that creates future leaders and drives progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Researchers and healthcare workers can make the biggest impact when they build on each other’s work. The Elsevier Foundation supports continuous discovery in research and health through more than 20 partnerships a year. The OWSD-Elsevier Foundation awards spotlight excellent scientists from low-income countries, and our Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge finds solutions to the climate crisis.

In each instance, the increased visibility on these researchers helps take their impact further. Our partnership with Aidsfonds tackles the rising HIV epidemic in Indonesia, and we work with Concern Worldwide in Somalia to strengthen health systems in response to food insecurity. In India, our project with Swasti se abre en una nueva pestaña/ventana mobilizes community health workers to address the impacts of extreme weather, and with the Falling Walls Foundation, we support talented women in science to take their next career step.

As the Elsevier Foundation looks to the future, we continue to refine and enhance our programs to address the evolving needs of the global research community, ultimately contributing to a sustainable and equitable future for all.

We offer our partners very targeted proof-of-concept funding — giving them the opportunity to show the world that their idea works. We also roll up our sleeves with joint outreach, content and analytics so that they can ultimately make a bigger impact and contribute to real system change.
