Sabrina Wan

Sabrina obtained her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Iowa State University, United States in 2013. After postdoctorial training at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, she joined the Materials Science Division at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2018. Her research focuses on using atomistic simulations and machine-learning based methodologies to understand materials function and degradations in energy storage and conversion devices. She has led and contributed to a number of projects on Li-ion, Na-ion, Li-S, solid-state and flow battery systems, as well as hydrogen storage and protovoltaics materials. More specifically, her research emphasizes “beyond-ideal” materials modeling to address key processes and chemical reaction happending at complex heterogeneous and dynamically evolving interfaces that dictate materials long-term performance in energy related applications. She is also interested in the development of multiscale modeling and integrated modeling-experiment approaches to provide comprehensive descriptions of interfacial processes across different time- and length-scales.
