Haritz Sardon is Full Professor at the University of Basque Country UPV/EHU since 2024 and Group leader at catalysis and sustainable polymers group at POLYMAT (20-30 People group). As an independent researcher, his main focus has been on designing the plastics of the future, by implementing scalable and environmentally benign plastic-recycling approaches and designing new polymers considering their end-of-life assessment. During his whole career, Haritz Sardon has demonstrated creative independent thinking and leadership qualities. He has produced more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and more than 10 patents during (2 of them licensed) his research career. He has spun-out 2 companies POLYKEY devoted to sustainable plastic industry and HEVEA3D focused on the sustainability aspects on the growing field of additive manufacturing. He has received several awards including: 1) Belgian Polymer Group Award (2026); 2) Progress in Polymer Science Award (2025): 3) Polymer Chemistry Award from the RSC (2024) and 4) ACS Macromolecules Young Investigator Award, American Chemical Society (2020) (ACS) among others.
