Assoc. Prof. Dr Sharifah Sakinah Syed Ahmad
Dr. Sharifah Sakinah Syed Ahmad is an Associate Professor in the Department of Intelligent Computing & Analytics (ICA) at the Faculty of Information & Communication Technology, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). She obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Applied Mathematics from the School of Mathematics at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Following this, she pursued her Ph.D. at the University of Alberta, Canada, specializing in Intelligent Systems, which she completed in 2012. During her graduate studies, her research primarily focused on granular computing and fuzzy modeling.
Dr. Sakinah's current research interests revolve around granular fuzzy rule-based systems, evolutionary methods, modeling, and data science. She has actively contributed to the academic community by participating in numerous program committees for national and international conferences in the field of Intelligent Systems and Soft Computing. She is also extensively involved in organizing and reviewing activities within her academic domain. As a dedicated scholar, she is a member of prestigious professional organizations such as IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, as well as the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
Dr. Sakinah has authored and co-authored numerous journal publications, conference articles, and book chapters on the aforementioned topics. Her research endeavors have been supported by several grants from reputable funding agencies, including the Ministry of Education Malaysia and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation Malaysia.
With over 20 years of teaching experience, Dr. Sakinah has imparted knowledge in various courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students. These courses include Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Statistics, Numerical Methods, Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Fuzzy Logic.
Beyond her academic responsibilities, Dr. Sakinah has actively engaged in conducting workshops aimed at enhancing teaching methodologies in Mathematics. She has also conducted workshops on diverse topics such as the Application of Particle Swarm Optimization Method, R and Python Programming, Data Science, and Data-Driven Modeling.
Additionally, Dr. Sakinah possesses certifications that validate her proficiency in Intelligent Systems, Fuzzy Systems, and Data Science. She is accredited with the Certified Professional Data Scientist Associate (EMCDSA) certification. Furthermore, she is certified in Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals and CompTIA CTT+ Classroom Trainer.
