Dr. Rajesh Singh

BioDr. Rajesh Singh has had a distinguished career in library and information sciences, spanning nearly three decades. He has served in various prestigious institutions, including Sainik School Purulia, Indian School of Mines Dhanbad, IASE, MJP Rohilkhand University, before taking on a leadership role at the University of Delhi.
As a transformative leader, Dr. Singh has played a pivotal role in modernizing the Delhi University Library System (DULS). He spearheaded the development of the DU E-Library platform, ensuring 24/7 access to e-journals, databases, and e-books for students and researchers. He also led the redesign of the DULS website, integrating seamless access to digital archives and scholarly resources. His initiatives, such as the Information Literacy Program, have equipped students and researchers with essential information skills.
Dr. Singh’s contributions to the field have been widely recognized. He has received several prestigious awards, including the ILA-Gidwani-Deshpandey Best Academic Librarian Award, the Best University Librarian Award by COLLNET, and the Research Excellence Award by COLLNET, France. Most recently, he was honoured with the KAULA Best Librarian Award 2024 at the 70th All India Library Conference in recognition of his outstanding contributions to library science and modernization efforts at the University of Delhi.
Internationally, Dr. Singh has represented India at various forums, delivering invited talks in Russia, Italy, Thailand, the Philippines, Germany, and the United Kingdom. He was awarded the ERASMUS grant by Freie University, Berlin, Germany, further strengthening academic collaboration. More recently, Dr Singh has led an all India delegation of library professionals to participate in the first ‘Russian-Indian Library Dialogue: the International Conference on Academic Libraries (ICAL-2025)’ as part of the All-Russian Library Congress-XXIX Annual Conference of the Russian Library Association, held on 25-31 May, 2025 at Izhevsk, Russia.
Beyond his library leadership, Dr. Singh has held key administrative roles, serving as Treasurer and Chairman of the Governing Body at Sri Aurobindo College, University of Delhi, Rajdhani College, University of Delhi and Bhagani Nivedita College, University of Delhi.
A prolific researcher, he has authored three books, published 54 research papers in national and international journals, developed four course contents, and presented at 22 national and international conferences. His commitment to academic excellence and capacity building is evident in the numerous training programs, workshops, and internships he has organized for library professionals.
In recognition of his scholarly standing,Dr. Singh serves on the Advisory Board of Trends in Information Management, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Kashmir, and on the Editorial Board of Khizanah al-Hikmah, a peer-reviewed journal published by Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar, Indonesia.
