Daniel Hedman

Institute for Basic Science (IBS), South Korea

Dr. Daniel Hedman is a computational materials scientist working at the intersection of atomistic modelling and machine learning. He received his PhD in Applied Physics from Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, where his doctoral research focused on the stability, growth and properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes. He is currently a Senior Researcher at the Center for Multidimensional Carbon Materials, Institute for Basic Science, South Korea, where he develops and applies specialized machine-learning interatomic potentials to uncover atomic-scale growth mechanisms, with particular emphasis on carbon nanotubes, their interfaces and chirality-dependent growth, as well as other low-dimensional materials.
