Bing Tan is Vice Dean of the School of Science and a chaired Professor of Chemistry at SUSTech. He is a distinguished Ph.D. supervisor and recipient of the NSFC Distinguished Young Scholar Fund (renewed in 2024). With a master’s from Xiamen University and a Ph.D. from NTU Singapore, he conducted postdoctoral research at The Scripps Research Institute.

Joining SUSTech in 2012 as a tenure-track Associate Professor, he was promoted to full professor in 2018. His research focuses on axial chirality chemistry using organic catalysis. He has published over 100 high-impact papers—including works in Science, Nature Chemistry, and Nature Catalysis—and authored the monograph Axial Chirality Chemistry.

Tan has received top awards including the Scientific Exploration Award and the Chinese Organic Chemistry Award. He currently serves as Associate Editor of Chemical Research in Chinese and is on the editorial board of Chin. Sci. Bull. (Chem.).
