Arho Suominen

Professor Arho Suominen (DSc Tech.) is a Research Professor of Strategic Foresight at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and an Adjunct Professor at Tampere University. He is a scientific leader driving VTT’s research excellence, responsible for shaping visionary research agendas and fostering high-impact innovation. His research focuses on emerging and disruptive technologies, applying qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze technological change, innovation systems, and technology strategy. He specializes in tech mining and large-scale data modeling to assess the evolution of science and technology ecosystems, developing novel metrics for measuring innovation at societal, technological, and economic levels. Dr. Suominen has extensive experience in research project management, leading large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects that bridge academia, industry, and policymakers. He has secured and managed high-profile research funding from institutions such as the European Commission and the Academy of Finland, ensuring effective execution and impactful outcomes. He serves as an Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Strategy & Innovation and Associate Editor of Technological Forecasting and Social Change.
