Elsevier’s ClinicalKey Now accelerates access to localised clinical guidelines and content for clinicians at the point of care

New Delhi | 6. Juli 2023

Elsevier, a global leader in evidence-based clinical practice content, research publishing and information analytics, today announces the launch of ClinicalKey Now, a mobile interactive discovery tool that enables clinicians in India to access accurate, concise, and actionable evidence-based information to support diagnosis and treatment of patients. Curated and peer-reviewed by expert physicians in India, the tool adheres to global practice standards while aligning with local and regional clinical guidelines. As a mobile-first tool, ClinicalKey Now facilitates physicians’ access to medical content with ease and convenience at the point of care.

One of the most pressing challenges in Indian healthcare is the unequal distribution of resources, highlighted by high patient-to-clinician ratios and limited access to quality healthcare. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the clinician-to-patient ratio in India is 1:1700 against the 1:1000 recommendation1. This can put a strain on clinicians, who may have to spend a significant amount of time on administrative responsibilities. This can leave clinicians with little to no time to spend with their patients, which can then impact the quality of care that they are able to provide2. To address these challenges, clinicians can leverage technology, such as ClinicalKey Now, to free up clinicians' time so that they can focus on providing care to their patients even in the remotest areas of the country.

ClinicalKey Now helps support physicians in the medical diagnosis and treatment process through its intuitive clinical algorithms, offering summarised practical steps for the management of patient conditions. It also contains a visual map that traces and maps symptoms to treatment methods. This intuitive user journey, all-optimised for a mobile experience, empowers physicians to find accurate answers within seconds, even when offline or in rural remote areas, in-between, or during patient consultations.

Shanker Kaul, Managing Director, India, Elsevier, said: “Due to the ever-increasing workload on medical practitioners, changing patient needs and barriers to accessing the latest verified information, physicians in India find it challenging to stay on top of advances in medicine. It is important for physicians to have access to tools that can help them to diagnose more accurately and prescribe more effective treatment plans that are in line with the Indian healthcare system, to manage common diseases and conditions within our population. ClinicalKey Now allows clinicians quick access to easily actionable and localised recommendations, reducing the time required for them to retrieve information to provide informed care to patients.”

ClinicalKey Now features longer form synoptic content inclusive of clinical reviews and offers comprehensive information and drug monographs, with coverage of approved combination therapies and availability of treatment in India. In addition, ClinicalKey Now provides concise answers through intuitive search to support physicians when diagnosing and treating patients wherever clinicians are practicing. This allows clinicians to spend more time supporting patients which in turn enables a streamlined workflow and helps improve the quality of care administered.
