About the Authors

Mohammad Jawaid Author

Mohammad Jawaid is a Fellow Researcher (Associate Professor), at the Biocomposite Technology Laboratory, Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia. He also works as a Visiting Lecturer at the Aerospace Manufacturing Research Centre, Faculty of Engineering, UPM, a Visiting Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, College of Engineering, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and a Visiting Scholar to TEMAG Labs, Department of Textile Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey. Dr. Jawaid has more than 10 years of experience in teaching, research, and industries, with research interests including hybrid reinforced/filled polymer composites, advanced materials (graphene/nanoclay/fire retardant, lignocellulosic reinforced/filled polymer composites), modification and treatment of lignocellulosic fibres and solid wood, nanocomposites and nanocellulose fibres, and polymer blends. He recently received the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund as Malaysian leader with UK Partners. Dr. Jawaid has published 8 books, 21 book chapters, and over 160 international journal papers. He is also the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Malaysian Polymer Journal and Guest Editor for Current Organic Synthesis, Current Analytical Chemistry, and International Journal of Polymer Science. He is a reviewer of 49 high impact ISI journals.

Paridah Md Tahir Author

Paridah Md Tahir is the Director of the Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia, a post which she has held since 2009. She was also appointed as Professor in the Faculty of Forestry, UPM, in 2012. Dr. Tahir’s research has focused on natural fibre, wood adhesives and bonding, wood/fibre composites, and surface coating, and she has had extensive involvement in the wood-based sector, particularly in the area of biocomposites. She helped the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) to produce manual for wood lamination, which is now being used as a reference document by the training unit of MTIB. Dr. Tahir has been invited to give lectures for courses in wood lamination and finishing, and has supervised more than 250 students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has co-authored over 120 research papers in peer-review journals, 26 book chapters and a number of conference papers. She has led her team in receiving more than RM 10 million in research funding, and has been involved in a number of consultancy projects for both government and industry.

Naheed Saba Author

Naheed Saba completed her PhD in Biocomposites from the Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia. She has published over 20 scientific and engineering articles in advanced composites, as well as one book, 8 book chapters, and conference proceedings. Dr. Saba’s research interests lie in nanocellulosic materials, fire retardant materials, natural fibre reinforced polymer composites, biocomposites, hybrid composites, and nanocomposites. She was also the recipient of the International Graduate Research Fellowship at UPM.
