Caixia (Ellen) Wan

Dr. Caixia (Ellen) Wan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Missouri and an affiliated faculty member of the Materials Science and Engineering Institute. She received her Ph.D. in Biological Engineering from The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on bioprocessing, integrated biorefineries, and sustainable biomanufacturing, with main interests in biomass valorization, biocatalysis and biotransformation, Fermentation Engineering, and biodegradable biopolymer synthesis. She has more than 20 years of experience in the value-added conversion of bioresources into biofuels and bioproducts and has published about 100 peer-reviewed papers. She has also been recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists in the Stanford University ranking. Dr. Wan currently serves as an Executive Editor of Bioresource Technology.
