Professor Cesar Azevedo is an academic and researcher specialising in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the University of São Paulo (USP). His extensive education includes a Bachelor's and Master's degree from USP, a Metalcasting training (NIRIN, Japan), and a Ph.D. from Imperial College London, where his research focused on the Ti-Al-Si phase diagram. His career began at the Technological Research Institute of the State of São Paulo (IPT), where he worked for nearly two decades and served as Head of the Failure Analysis Laboratory. Since 2006, he has been a full-time professor at USP, teaching Physical Metallurgy, Phase Transformations and Materials Selection and investigating the relationships between properties, microstructure, and performance of metallic components. Prof. Azevedo’s international experience includes visiting scientist positions in the UK (Imperial) and Germany (BAM-Berlin). He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Engineering Failure Analysis and has been listed among the top 150 scientists at the University of São Paulo since 2019.
