Access

ESPReSSO Establishing Suggested Practices Regarding Single Sign On (ESPReSSO) Enables users to use their institutional credentials to login across multiple platforms and products.

Shibboleth/ SAML(打開新的分頁/視窗) Shibboleth is an implementation of SAML (Secure Assertion Mark-up Language) which allows secure authentication enabling users to log in using their institutional credentials. For customers, we support OpenAthens and SAML-based single log-on.

Accessibility

WAI(打開新的分頁/視窗) WCAG 2. 0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) Elsevier supports the international accessibility standard which ensures our websites are usable by people with a wide range of disabilities.

Section 508(打開新的分頁/視窗) Section 508 ensures any IT purchased or used by the US federal government or federally funded institutions is usable by people with disabilities.

PAAG Charter(打開新的分頁/視窗) Elsevier is a signatory of the Publisher Accessibility Action Group (PAAG) Charter, supporting the creation of accessible content for all.

Sustainability

SDG Publishers Compact(打開新的分頁/視窗) Elsevier is a founding signatory to the SDG Publishers Compact that outlines our deep commitment to driving progress for a more sustainable future, for both people and planet, both internally and within the communities we serve.

Climate Pledge(打開新的分頁/視窗) Elsevier has committed to becoming net zero by 2040, signing the Climate Pledge together with parent company RELX, to reach the net zero target at least a decade ahead of the Paris Climate Agreement’s goal of 2050.

Declaration of Amsterdam for LGBT inclusive Workplace Elsevier is a signatory of the Workplace Pride declaration that aims make lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders (LGBT) fully visible, accepted and valued in the workplace and in society.

Linking and integration

OpenURL The OpenURL Framework standard is a protocol that allows context-sensitive metadata exchange.

CrossRef(打開新的分頁/視窗) A publisher-driven initiative, CrossRef is a free reference-linking service that provides seamless integration of current and archived content across publishers. Elsevier is a founding partner.

Niso Open URL standards address the growing demand for bi-directional interaction between linking systems.

OAI-PMH (打開新的分頁/視窗) OAI-PMH stands for the Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting. Standard protocol for institutional repositories to communicate updates to the repository to the outside world.

SCHOLIX(打開新的分頁/視窗) An easy and universal linking mechanism between scholarly publications and research data.

Holdings and usage

COUNTER(打開新的分頁/視窗) COUNTER (Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources) Code of Practice facilitates a single, accepted, extendable Code of Practice to measure the usage of online information products and services. Elsevier is a founding member of COUNTER.

KBART(打開新的分頁/視窗) Knowledge Base and Related Tools (KBART) is a recommended best practice for publishers to format and distribute title lists and holdings reports in a way that is consistent, accurate and easy for updating library knowledge bases.

SUSHI (打開新的分頁/視窗) Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) is a mandatory protocol for the automated exchange of COUNTER usage reports in XML format between publishers and their customers.

Community-specific standards

STIX Fonts(打開新的分頁/視窗) STIX (Scientific and Technical Information Exchange) Font Creation Project. A comprehensive set of royalty-free fonts for mathematics and other special characters used in scientific, technical and medical publishing.

Information preservation

Digital archives Working with Yale University Library and the Dutch national library, Koninklijke Bibliotheek(打開新的分頁/視窗), Elsevier has adopted the Open Archival Information System (OAIS) standards for preservation and established an official, permanently accessible, digital archive for Elsevier journals.
