Jose Luis Cortina

Jose Luis Cortina is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the UPC BarcelonaTECH and Senior Researcher at the Water Technology Center (Cetaqua). He leads the Resource Recovery and Environmental Engineering (R2EM) group, focusing on innovative separation technologies, circular process engineering, desalination, and critical raw metal recovery from waste streams. With over three decades of experience, he has co-authored 300+ peer-reviewed publications and supervised 30 PhD students. Professor Cortina bridges fundamental science and industrial application, advancing Circular Economy principles to transform waste into valuable resources for a sustainable future.
