Assoc. Prof. Boosya Bunnag is the Head of the Algal Biotechnology Research Center at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi Thailand, leading research on sustainable technologies for algal biomass and high value bioproduct production. Her research focuses on the mass cultivation of Spirulina to reduce production costs and promote the utilization of agricultural waste. Her group has developed microalgal strains and cultivation systems with enhanced growth, lipid productivity, and CO₂ fixation efficiency by integrating physiological, molecular, and OMICS approaches. Her work also advances sustainable bioprocesses for the extraction and valorization of high-value compounds from microalgae, macroalgae (Caulerpa), and agricultural biomass, contributing to carbon utilization, bio-based product development, and the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy.
