The largest study to date on the topic, “Bleeding Risk With Combination Intrapleural Fibrinolytic and Enzyme Therapy in Pleural Infectionopens in new tab/window” shows that, aside from specific scenarios, safety or risk of bleeding alone should no longer be a deterrent to the use of intrapleural fibrinolytic and enzyme therapy in pleural infection.
