Talk Title: Evolution on the very fast lane: bacterial genomes as playgrounds for mobile elements
Eduardo Rocha studied Chemistry & mathematics, did a PhD in Bioinformatics and an Habilitation in Biology. He heads the Microbial Evolutionary Genomics lab at Pasteur Institut in Paris. He studies microbial evolution using computational and experimental approaches. He focuses on understanding genome organization and dynamics, and how their interplay shapes bacterial adaptation. In the last decade, his work has focused on the role of mobile genetic elements in driving functional innovation.
