Tongyu Liu, PhD

Tongyu Liu is Professor of opto-electronic engineering at the Laser Institute, Qilu Technology University (Shandong Academy of Science). He obtained a BSc degree in 1983 at Dept EE of Shandong University, China, and PhD degree of Material Engineering at Brunel University in 1999.

He has been working on R&D of optical fibre sensors since 1990. Current research interests focus on laser gas sensors, FBG and distributed fibre optic sensors for industrial and public safety applications. He is the author and co-author of 180 research papers, three book chapters and 60 patents and has delivered 20 invited talks on the topic of OFS research and commercialization.
