Cheng Xiao

Cheng Xiao, Professor at Sun Yat-sen University and National Distinguished Young Scholar. He is Founding Dean of the School of Remote Sensing Science and Technology and Director of the MOE Key Laboratory of Stereoscopic Observation and Application of Polar Environments. His research covers key technologies, instruments and applications of polar remote sensing. He leads the development of China’s space-air-ice-ocean polar observation system, comprising the Binglu polar remote sensing microsatellite, Polar Hawk UAV and research vessel *Sun Yat-sen University Polar*. He launched China’s first university-led Arctic scientific cruise. He has published more than 200 SCI papers, five monographs and two national reports on polar ecological monitoring.
